Handmade soaps are made of all natural ingredients including vegetable oils instead of animal fats which are called tallow and can be bad for your skin. Vegetable oils such as olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil or carrot oil when added to the handmade soaps make the handmade soaps softer and more luxurious with rich creamy lather's.
Store-bought bars of soap contain animal fat and do not contain glycerin which is a natural byproduct of the soapafication process. Manufactures of bars of soap take the glycerin out of the soaps and sell them to pharmaceutical companies and cosmetic companies to make more money, however, handmade soaps leave the glycerin in the bars of soap to help moisturize your body. Another reason the manufacturer takes the glycerin out of the soap is because it is a gummy substance and sometimes comes up the equipment which causes a breakdown in the system allowing for lost time and money.
In addition to the natural vegetable oils, handmade soaps can be made with other natural additives such as fine baby food oatmeal which has an exfoliating a fact and a moisturizing property; aloe vera which is a natural botanical and has healing properties for burns, wounds, acne and scrapes and mint or lemon sea grass which helps to wake up your senses and energize you when you're feeling run down.
Handmade soaps can be found in specialty stores, unique boutiques, and craft fairs, through individuals and through the Internet. Just be sure you are purchasing handmade soap and not homemade soap.
